The federal government recently announced a National Housing Strategy which is a 10-year, $40-billion plan to help Canadians with distinct housing needs, including seniors; veterans; persons with disabilities; indigenous peoples; women and children fleeing family violence; and those dealing with mental health and addiction issues. The National Housing Strategy also includes a commitment to enhance housing research, data and demonstration functions.
